Every Surah in the Quran consists of a message. Surah Fatiha is one of those Surah that contains a message, lessons, and miracles. It is the first Surah and consists of seven verses. Each verse is related to a different origin.

REASON BEHIND REVEALING SURAH AL FATIHA

Surah Al Fatiha was revealed in Makkah which means the surah is revealed before the migration of the Prophet (PBUH) from Makkah to Medina. The word ‘Fatiha’ means ‘Opening’. It is the beginning of the Quran, describing the basic pillars of Islam. The Surah is also important while performing Salah. No prayer is completed without the recitation of Surah Al Fatiha.

  1. SURAH AL FATIHA IS THE GREATEST SURAH OF ALL

It is stated in one of the hadith that Prophet (PBUH) listed Surah Al Fatiha as the greatest chapter of the Quran. The Surah describes the complete summary of Islam in 7 verses. It explains no matter how tough is the situation, only ask Allah for help.

  1. MAIN PILLAR OF SALAH

It is to be noted that without the recitation of Surah Al Fatiha, salaah cannot be completed. It indicates that it is very dear to Allah and He will surely answer our prayers when we recite Surah Al Fatiha.

  1. SURAH AL FATIHA CAN CURE SICKNESS

The Surah is known to provide a cure to the illness. It is stated in Sahih Al Bukhaari that once a companion of the Prophet (PBUH) recited Surah Al Fatiha after a Scorpio bite and it got cured, means this Surah is capable of healing wounds, is also known to restore heart disorders.

  1. IT IS A LIGHT FROM PARADISE

Once there was a light coming from heaven. An angel came to the Prophet (PBUH) and explained, there are two lights in paradise, one is Surah Al Fatiha and the other is Surah Al Baqarah. The Surah is given as a blessing to Muslims. It acts as an achievement for Allah’s favors.

OTHER NAMES OF SURAH AL FATIHA

The information stated in this surah is so vast. Due to which there are many other secondary identities of Surah Al Fatiha that are stated in the Furqaan e Hameed. Some of them are listed below:

  1. UMM-UL-KITAAB

The Surah is listed as Umm-ul-Kitaab which means ‘Mother of the book’. It is stated in Tirmidhi. Moreover, Arabs used to name things as a ‘Mother’ that contains large information or summarizes the matter.

  1. AL-HAMD

Al-Hamd means praising Allah. As this Surah reveals the love of Allah to His followers, it is also named ‘Al-Hamd’.

  1. ASH-SHIFA

Prophet (PBUH) said,” The opening of the Holy Quran is the cure to all poisons.” (Ad-Darimi)

As ‘Shifa’ means healing, the surah refers to as ‘Ash-Shifa’.

  1. SAB’UL-MATHANI

This name is given to the surah due to the quality of seven repeated verses. These 7 verses are an essential part of every Salaah. Without the recitation of this Surah, the Salaah is incomplete.

  1. ASAS-UL-QURAN

The surah explains the basic concepts of Islam. These are the fundamentals that every Muslim should understand and implement in his life.

BENEFITS OF SURAH AL FATIHA

Quran is filled with chapters and all of them are equally advantageous. Every surah gives new meaning whenever you recite it. Surah also unfolds benefits for its reciter. Some of them:

  • The surah will protect you from poverty and hunger. Recite it daily to secure yourself.
  • Surah surrounds its reciter with a protective shield. This shield prohibits jealousy and the evil eye from coming closer.
  • It is also said that Surah is a dua that Allah has taught Muslims. It should be an important part of every dua.
  • Reciting Surah  100 times in a day, Allah will surely answer your prayers.
  • Read Surah  3 times a day and you get a reward of reciting two Holy Quran.
